Receptor mediated recognition controls rhizobial infection of legumes
J. STOUGAARD (1) (1) Aarhus University, Denmark

In the model legume Lotus japonicus a large family of LysM receptor kinases are predicted to be membrane localised and mediating plant-microbe interactions. The function of some of these receptors in perception of microbial signal molecules including lipochito-oligosaccharides, exopolysaccharides and chitin will be presented and discussed. Biochemical approaches for characterization of ligand – receptor relations in symbiotic and pathogenic interactions will be presented.
